Volume of export of Turkey in April 2023 exceeded $ 19 billion

The volume of Turkish exports in April 2023 amounted to $ 19.3 billion, said the head of the Turkish exporters (TİM) Mustafa Gultepa exporters.

According to him, a decrease in exports last month is a short -term phenomenon and is due to the fact that in April there were still negative consequences of events in Turkey and abroad.

“I am sure that we can, contrary to everything, catch up in the next 8 months and complete 2023 with the highest possible export indicators,” he said.

“In April, the volume of exports was 17.2 percent less than the same month of last year. Export over the past 12 months has increased by 4.9 percent-to $ 251.7 billion, and in January-April, it succeeded in 3 percent – up to $ 80.9 billion, ”Gultepa said.

According to him, last month the largest share in the export basket of Turkey was occupied by the products of the automotive industry.

The chemical industry accounted for $ 2.4 billion, $ 1.5 billion, electronics – 1.2 billion and steel – $ 1.1 billion from the total export, he said.

Last month, an increase in the volume of export of grain, olives and olive oil, defense and aviation technology, fresh fruits and vegetables, tobacco and hazelnuts was recorded, the head of the association said.

“The growth of exports in 14 provinces of Turkey was noted. The TOP-5 includes Istanbul, Kodzhaeli, Bursa, Izmir and Ankara. Last month, 449 companies replenished the list of exporters,” Gultepa added.
