After the earthquake of magnitude 8.8 off the coast of Kamchatka, the authorities of Japan announced a warning about the possible tsunami up to three meters high, which can affect the entire eastern part of the country – from the Hokkaido Island in the north to the prefecture of Vakai in the southeast. This was reported by Japanese state television NHK.
The local authorities called on residents to urgently evacuate and not return until all warnings are officially removed. The Japanese meteorological agency also made a statement, emphasizing that the waves can reach internal rivers and hit the coast repeatedly. According to the first data, in the port of Isinomaki a wave of 50 cm high, 40 cm in the port of Tokati, and in the area of the city of Eroyo in the southeast of the Hockey, – 30 cm. In the regions of Tokhoku and Kanto, fluctuations in water level from 20 to 40 centimeters were also observed.
