WHO: number of those killed in clashes in Sudan reached 459

The number of victims of the confrontation between the army and the rapid response forces (SBR) of Sudan has reached 459 people from April 15, another 4,072 residents of the African country were injured.

This was reported by the representative of the International Health Organization Alessandra Veluchchi at the weekly briefing in the UN Geneva Office.

According to the UN representatives, an agreement on a temporary ceasefire in Sudan is generally executed. This also applies to the capital of Hartum, where the sounds of shootings are heard from time to time.

Clashes between the army and the SBR of Sudan

In Hartum and a number of other cities of Sudan in the morning, on Saturday, April 15, armed clashes between the army and SBR.

Disagreements regarding the reform of military security, which provides for the complete integration of the SBR into the armed forces, resulted in an armed conflict between two power structures.

The Foreign Ministry of Sudan reported that the commander of the Republican Army of Sudan Abdelfattah al-Burkhan decided to dissolve the SBR and declared this structure “rebellious”.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said earlier that the parties to the armed conflict in Sudan had reached an agreement on the declaration of the ceasefire.

According to him, the ceasefire will enter into force at midnight Monday and last 72 hours.
