The General Prosecutor’s Office issued a statement in connection with the arrest of Lieutenant General Rovshan Akperov, haqqin.az reports.
The press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office says that on the fact of the premeditated murder on June 1, 2001 in the capital of Ukraine, the city of Kiev, Azerbaijani citizen Aliyev Elchin Fadai oglu, born in 1971, a criminal case was initiated in the prosecutor’s office of Ukraine under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, a number of investigative measures, in 2003 a criminal case was initiated on the suspicion of an Azerbaijani citizen of committing a crime. The criminal case was sent to Azerbaijan:
“In this criminal case, a number of investigative actions were carried out in the Investigation Department for Serious Crimes of the Military and General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan, however, the proceedings in the criminal case were suspended due to the fact that the person who should be brought to justice was not identified on the case.
After re-examining the criminal case in the Prosecutor General’s Office in 2020, with the cancellation of the decision to suspend the criminal proceedings by the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the proceedings were resumed, and in the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, after conducting numerous investigative actions and collecting sufficient evidence in the case, well-founded suspicions were established in the commission of this crime by Akperov Rovshan Telman oglu.
So, a citizen of Azerbaijan Rovshan Akperov, born in 1965, on the night of 05/31/2001 to 06/01/2001, after a feast in the cafe “Sikora”, located at the address: Kiev, Degtyarkova street, 7, about 2- 3 hours in connection with a minor conflict that arose between him and Elchin Aliyev, killed him, stabbing him in the heart.
On March 15, 2021, Rovshan Akperov was prosecuted under Articles 12.1, 120.2.2 (premeditated murder) and 12.1, 221.3 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code, he was charged under these articles, and on the proposal of the General Prosecutor’s Office by the decision of the Baku military court, he was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 4 months.
The General Prosecutor’s Office asks not to refer to inaccurate information in the media, “the ministry said in a statement.
