Will new Provisional Government of Bulgaria establish relations with Moscow?

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev announced the dissolution of the country’s parliament and appointed early parliamentary elections on October 2, the decree on the website of the head of state says.

“President Rumen Radev signed a decree by which the 47th People’s Assembly dissolves on August 2 and appoints the elections to the People’s Assembly on October 2, 2022,” the report said.

The dissolution of the People’s Assembly of Bulgaria occurred after the parliament of the Votum by the Votum of Normentii to the government Kiril Petkov.

In addition, Radeev appointed the technical government, which was headed by Gylyb Donev, who previously held the post of secretary in the administration of the head of state. According to Reuters, this happened against the backdrop of economic problems in the country, which, due to the war in Ukraine and the cessation of gas supplies from Russia, faced high inflation. In addition, it is expected that the Provisional Government will establish diplomatic relations with Russia, which may include efforts to resume the import of Russian gas. Donev may also try to establish relations with Moscow after the Petkov government sent 70 Russian diplomats on suspicion of espionage, admits Reuters.
