Working group will deal with transfer of Russian assets to Ukraine

The Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union approved the decision to create a special working group to study the possibilities of transferring to Ukraine arrested or frozen assets of Russia in the EU.

This was reported on Twitter by the Swedish chairmen in the EU Council.

“EU ambassadors today approved the creation of a special working group to use frozen and arrested Russian assets to support the restoration of Ukraine,” the report said.

On Tuesday, Sweden Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced his intention to create such a group, noting that she will have to determine which assets are in the EU. She also has to consider how to legally resolve the issue of alienation and use of assets, but for this there is no “finished model”.

The results of the group will be presented by the EU Council, which will further make all practical decisions. First of all, she has to answer the question of what amount of funds it is.

EU has repeatedly stated that he froze about $ 300 billion of the Golden food resources of Russia. In the fall, the European Commission reported on the freezing of another $ 19 billion “Russian oligarchs”. However, as reported by Bloomberg, the EU does not know where 86% of all assets are located that should theoretically be frozen.
