World Bank Allocated $ 35 Million For Development Of Geospatient Infrastructure Of Uzbekistan

The Council of Executive Directors of the World Bank approved the provision of a preferential loan of Uzbekistan in the amount of $ 35 million for the implementation of the project to improve the access of citizens and the private sector to geospatial data, the Uzbek state media reports.

The project is aimed at digitalizing public services and supporting sustainable territorial development throughout the country. The Uzbek side provides for co -financing in the amount of about $ 5.7 million.

Fast urbanization in Uzbekistan – more than half of the population already lives in cities – strengthens the load on land resources, infrastructure and social services. However, the lack of detailed and relevant geodata limits the capabilities of the authorities and business in effective planning and investment development. To solve these problems since 2021, the country has been created in the country’s national spatial data infrastructure (NIPD), the legal base for which is already formed.

According to the director of the World Bank for Central Asia Tatyana Proskuryakova, the priority of the project will be the development of NIPD, the completion of the cadastral mapping, the creation of a register of engineering communications and an increase in coordination between the state and the private sector.

The project is implemented by the Cadastra agency under the Ministry of Economic Financials of Uzbekistan in 2025-2030. and includes two key components: the development of NIPD at the central level and the strengthening of the regional and municipal geo -infrastructure.

The project will provide more accurate data on land resources, strengthen the protection of property rights and increase the investment attractiveness of the territories. Improved access to information will help entrepreneurs make reasonable decisions when opening new enterprises, and local authorities can more effectively manage the development of the regions.
