World’s largest aircraft was taken away for disposal

The world’s largest An-225 aircraft “Mriya” is taken from GOSTOL Airport for subsequent disposal, UNIAN reported.

On February 28, Ukroboronprom reported on the destruction “at the GOSTEL airfield near Kyiv as a result of the Russian shelling of the world’s largest AN-225 freight aircraft”.

An-225 “Mriya”-a heavy long-range turbojet transport aircraft over a super-large carrying capacity, developed in the 1980s in the Soviet OKB named after OK. Antonova (now the Ukrainian state enterprise Antonov) under the leadership of General Designer Peter Balabuev and chief designer Viktor Tolmachev. “Mriya” is the largest in size and the most severe lifting plane in the world. He made the first flight on December 21, 1988, and has been in operation since 1989. Only one copy of the An-225 aircraft was brought to a state of readiness, the second was never completed.
