Zelensky and Stoltenberg discussed defense needs of Ukraine in Davos

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky held in Davos a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

According to the presidential press service, the head of state thanked the NATO Secretary General for persistent support from the alliance.

“Vladimir Zelensky and Jens Stoltenberg discussed the situation on the battlefield. The president informed about the recent massive Russian shelling of Ukrainian cities and communities. The head of state noted the importance of further strengthening the Ukrainian air defense system,” the report said.

The parties also discussed other defense needs of Ukraine.

The importance of signing a bilateral agreement on security cooperation between Ukraine and Great Britain was noted as part of the G7 joint declaration adopted at the NATO previous summit in Vilnius.

The President spoke about the continuation of work on similar documents with other partners and noted the importance of the urgent signing of such agreements that will act before Ukraine join NATO.

The interlocutors discussed the preparation of the next summit of the North Atlantic Union in Washington. The head of state emphasized that Ukraine is expecting decisions that will bring its membership to NATO.
