President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky met with Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braze. The head of the Ukrainian state announced this in the Telegram channel on Thursday, November 27.
The President of Ukraine awarded the distinguished guest the Order of Merit, II degree, for her significant personal contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation and strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
During the meeting, the head of state thanked Latvia for its comprehensive assistance to the Ukrainian people, for Baiba Braze’s visit to the country and especially for her trip to Chernigov. “Thank you for all the help to our people, for the visit and separately for the trip to Chernigov. It is extremely important for us when partners personally visit such places and support the restoration of our schools and kindergartens,” follows from the text of the publication.
According to him, issues of defense support were discussed. We appreciate Latvia’s contribution to the PURL initiative. “They also talked about the possibilities of using the SAFE mechanism and the prospects for joint production of weapons. Latvia is the leader of the Drone Coalition. This year it supplied Ukraine with about 12 thousand drones, and this is important support for our defense,” Zelensky noted.
Special attention, according to the Ukrainian leader, was paid to the diplomatic situation. “Our positions are united: it is necessary to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and continue appropriate work with partners. Latvia stands next to us and will continue to stand. I am grateful for the constant support of Ukraine,” Zelensky added.
