President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky called on Europe and the United States to increase pressure on Russia and introduce the 19th package of sanctions, including restrictions in the oil sector. This was stated by the Ukrainian leader on the sidelines of the Summit of the European Political Community in Copenhagen.
Zelensky noted that Russia retains resources to continue the conflict. “It is necessary to introduce the 19th package of sanctions against Russia. We need to seriously think about how to stop Russian oil trade and the entire infrastructure that feeds their military machine. We see: even tankers under sanctions are still used by Russia. This should be stopped,” he emphasized. According to the president, the sanctions should also affect the captains and crews of the so-called “shadow fleet” and the owners of the vessels of the vessels.
The head of state supported the US initiative to stop the procurement of Russian oil in Europe and said that the deficit can be compensated by American and other partnerships.
“Wall of Drones” and safety Europe
Zelensky paid considerable attention to security issues. He emphasized that the Ukrainian military, located in Denmark, share the experience of combating shock drones. According to him, this is the first step towards the creation of the “wall of the drones” to protect the whole of Europe.
“If Russia decides to attack the drones of Poland or violating the airspace of the northern countries of Europe, this can happen anywhere. We need quick and effective reaction forces,” Zelensky said. He also called on the EU countries to actively join the Purl defense program, which, according to him, strengthens the partnership of Europe and the USA.
