Zelensky: Meeting With Putin In Turkey Should Bring Specific Result

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced the need to achieve real results in probable direct negotiations with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in Turkey, Ukrainian media reported with reference to Libération, which Zelensky gave an exclusive interview on Tuesday.

On the eve of Istanbul peace negotiations, which should begin on May 15, Zelensky said that his likely meeting with Putin should have a specific result.

“It is important to understand the purpose of my meeting with Putin … If I meet with him, we must go out with a political victory – the end of fire, the exchange of all prisoners for all prisoners or something like that,” the head of state noted.

The Ukrainian president also emphasized the need for reliable, balanced mediation, which would be respected by both sides. “The Russians will not trust us, we will not trust the Russians,” he said, mentioning the United States as a possible guarantor of the control mechanism.
