Zelensky says ready to run for second term

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he was ready to nominate his candidacy in the next election of the head of state. The politician said this in an interview with the Portuguese television channel RTP, the Ukrainian media reports.

“In 2024, if the war continues, and if the elections are held, I will never abandon my state in my life. Because I am a guarantor of the constitution, and I protect it in any case,” Zelensky said.

At the same time, he noted that the legislation of Ukraine prohibits the holding of elections in a martial law, but allowed amendments to the laws.

At the same time, the president indicated the need to ensure the possibility of voting citizens of Ukraine abroad.

“I want everything to be legal and transparent,” Zelensky emphasized.
