President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Sholts for personal and state support provided to Ukraine.
The leadership of the leaders took place on the eve of the departure of Sholts from the post. The powers of the German chancellor officially end on May 6. Zelensky reported this in his official telegram channel.
“We are highly appreciated by the key role of Germany in the support of Ukraine throughout the years of the war. Ukraine is also grateful for your personal efforts,” the head of state noted.

According to Zelensky, during the time of Scholyts’s stay in the office of the chancellor it was possible to realize many significant steps: from the historical speech about the “turning point” (zeitenwende) to the start of the negotiations of Ukraine in the EU, transmitted air defense systems Patriot and other types of defense assistance.
“Thank you for the assurances that you will continue to support Ukraine and our common cause. It is sincerely grateful for truly friendly and always frank conversations,” he added.
The conversation was held against the backdrop of active diplomatic contacts of Kyiv with Western partners and, on the eve of the June summit G7 and NATO, where further assistance to Ukraine will be discussed.
Germany remains one of the largest donors and the key political ally of Kyiv in Europe.
