Zelensky: “We have many plans with Ilham Aliyev”

“President of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Ukraine emphasizes a strategic partnership between the two states in the field of politics, economics and security.” This was stated by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky during a meeting with representatives of the media based on the results of negotiations with Ilham Aliyev in Kiev.

The head of the Ukrainian state noted that the parties discussed in detail all the spheres of existing cooperation and all the possibilities for its strengthening. The result of the meeting is six bilateral documents on cooperation, the implementation of which will simplify investment activities, will strengthen food and energy security and increase the volume of bilateral turnover.

“We have many plans about which we talked in detail with the President of Azerbaijan,” said Zelensky, noting that, despite the coronavirus pandemic, the trade turnover between the two countries not only did not decrease, but for the first time in the last seven years she reached a record Indicators – almost 1 billion US dollars.

Vladimir Zelensky also stressed that this is not the limit, and today countries have set a new ambitious goal – by 2024 to increase bilateral trade.

“We also strive to increase the size of mutual investment and the number of large-scale projects. This, in particular, the participation of Azerbaijani companies in the program” Big Construction “, as well as the participation of Ukrainian companies in infrastructure projects, in which the President of Azerbaijan invited Ukrainian business,” – Added Vladimir Zelensky.

The presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine also agreed to hold a joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in the first half of the current year.

“The next step is to organize a meeting of the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan,” said the Ukrainian leader.

Another relevant goal, Vladimir Zelensky called the development of transit potential and the creation of an appropriate infrastructure. “We must intensify cooperation in the field of international automotive and rail transportation, as well as in the field of aviation. We will continue to work together on a number of prospects, including the creation of a transport corridor within the GUAM, uniting Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Moldova,” – said Zelensky.

President of Ukraine thanked Ilham Aliyev and the entire delegation of Azerbaijan for warm and constructive negotiations that became sign on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between countries. “I am sure that the agreements we have achieved today are starting a new stage of our strategic, historical, very correct substantive cooperation,” said Vladimir Zelensky.
