Zhirinovsky: if Soviet Union had not collapsed

If the authorities took the side of the people and followed the results of the All-Union referendum on the preservation of the USSR, today the country would remain in full territorial composition, would be the most prosperous in the world, says the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

“We would have saved the entire territory. We would have been 300 million now. We would have had our most powerful economy. For we were self-sufficient. The whole south gave us what they bring us today from Africa, from Israel or from Western Europe. we had our own fruits, vegetables, everything of our own. Melons, cotton, grapes. And imagine, today we would be monopolists in the gas and oil market. All gas, oil from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan – this would be our common wealth “, – said the Russian politician on the air of the radio station “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, he is quoted by RIA Novosti.

Zhirinovsky believes that if the USSR was preserved, according to the results of the referendum, “the land problem would be solved, and the country” would have exported food for 20 years already.

“There would be a great country. How many families would survive. Then, in the Soviet Union, 22 million children were born from mixed marriages. Now 22 more would be born. There would already be 50 million. There would be no nationalism. Nationalism is burned out with a hot iron not through violence, not through money, but through mixed marriages, “the LDPR leader believes.
