Gref about fate of ruble

The head of Sberbank, German Gref, believes that the situation with the ruble exchange rate can be corrected by reorientation of the Russian economy for trade with “neutral countries”. He also noted that it is possible to restrain the strengthening of the course due to currency interventions or the expansion of imports, writes Interfax.

As Herman Gref said, at the moment the ruble has strengthened due to the difficulties with the transfer of currency abroad. Another factor in strengthening the Russian currency was the restriction of imports, due to which the currency is spent in smaller volumes. According to him, due to the inability to buy “solid currencies” for the accumulation of the National Welfare Fund, the Ministry of Finance is studying the purchase of a yuan and “other soft currencies.”

“Further, the situation with the course will be corrected due to the restructuring of logistics for trading with neutral countries,” said Mr. Gref at a briefing.
