India called on China to reduce military activity on border

India called on China to reduce the level of military activity in the mountainous region of East Ladakh on the 16th round of negotiations on border problems at the level of army corps commanders, reports The Times of India with reference to sources in the Indian Ministry of Defense.

“The situation in the Changmo Chanmo sector and the depsang sector was discussed in order to restore the status quo in Ladakha, which existed until April 2020. The Indian side advocated the activity of the troops in contact, the termination of the military infrastructure of the national liberation army China (PLA – Ed.) In Ladakh and the withdrawal of troops from advanced borders on the actual control line, ”the sources of the publication said.

According to the data, negotiations were held on Sunday at the Border point “Chushul-Moldo” on the Indian side. The Indian delegation was headed by the commander of the corps, Lieutenant General A. Sengupt.

The absence of a demarcated border between India and China in the Himalayas (two countries shares the actual control line) remains a source of tension for decades. In May 2020, in the mountainous region of Ladakh, a confrontation arose on the border of the two countries, as a result of which clashes occurred and there were dead on both sides.
