Military prosecutor Hanlar Veliev: “Why should I apologize?”

The military prosecutor of Azerbaijan Hanlar Veliev complained about Diffamation. He stated that he did not call events known as “Terther’s business” “fairy tale.” Veliev emphasized that his words were distorted.

We recall that in the framework of the Terther case, May-July 2017, about 2000 troops were tortured on charges of espionage in favor of Armenians. Some of them could not stand torture and died.

Recall that “Termen case” was discussed in Milli Majlis a few days ago. Some deputies said that Hanlar Veliev should apologize to the people. The military prosecutor himself all charges against him.

“Ask the deputies themselves – why do they talk about what they do not know?” – said Hanlar Veliev, answering questions from journalists.

Journalists reminded the military prosecutor of his statement for the press, made in April 2021. Then Veliev and called the “fairy tale” the statements that the military was cruelly tortured.

“I heard such statements. But they are false. I generally think this is a fairy tale,” the official said at that time.

Now Veliev claims that his words were distorted.

“I did not call this business a fairy tale. It was about something else, about the allegations that, they say, military prosecutors are beaten, crippled and tortured by military personnel. No one can say that the military prosecutor’s office exerted pressure on it, beat or insulted it. This simply cannot be, ”he said.

Commenting on the requirements voiced in the Milli Majlis, Veliev wondered: “Why should I apologize? What other reason?”.

Recall that last year a new investigative group was created in the Prosecutor General’s Office in connection with the Terter business. Hundreds of servicemen who underwent cruel and inhuman torture were interrogated as victims of court, suspects were arrested.

Based on the conclusion of the investigation, the cases were revised and justified sentences to dozens of military personnel convicted in Terter’s case and received long terms of imprisonment. These persons under torture were forced to admit to the Stateizer, and even in the fact that they were raped by enemy soldiers.

Investigative group continues its work.
