Pakistan: an armed attack on polling station was committed, police officer died

Police officer died as a result of an armed attack on the members of the election commission during the elections in the Pakistani Province of Haiber-Pakhtunchi.

The police informed Anadolu that unknown armed persons opened fire on members of the election commission in the Azam Kot area in the tank region.

The police officer died as a result of an armed attack. Voting on the site is temporarily suspended.

The Tank region borders on the province of South Varizistan, located on the border with Afghanistan.

The official representative of the Pakistan Foreign Ministry Mumtaz Zaram Balukh previously stated that the borders of Iran and Afghanistan will be closed on elections day in order to ensure complete security.

Voting in the National Assembly and Provincial Councils of Pakistan began on Thursday, February 8, at 08.00 local time and will end at 17.00.
