German Chancellor Olaf Sholts wants to continue direct communication with Putin by phone, reports Die Welt.
According to the publication, the Chancellor is of the opinion that “the channel for negotiations with the Kremlin must be kept open”, continuing efforts to stop the war in Ukraine through direct negotiations.
“I will also talk again with Putin, because I need to talk to each other. Putin must withdraw troops from Ukraine and end this terrible, meaningless war,” said Scholts.
