President of Turkmenistan will make first official visit to Turkey

The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov will make his first official visit to Turkey on October 25-26.

In the course of his visit, Berdimuhamedov will meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and exchange views on bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as current events.

Turkmenistan proclaimed its independence on October 27, 1991. On December 16 of the same year, Turkey was the first country to recognize the independence of Uzbekistan.

Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Turkmenistan were established on February 29, 1992.

Between the two countries, rich and positive experience of large -scale cooperation has been accumulated.

Between the two fraternal countries and peoples having a common history, language, religion and culture, there are special relations based on a balanced mutual respect and cooperation based on the principle of “one nation, two states”. Turkey and Turkmenistan are also working in many areas, including foreign policy, trade, economics, culture and education.

Bratsk countries expressed determination to promote cooperation to a new level thanks to the intergovernmental Turkmen-Turkish commission on economic cooperation.

Trade relations between Turkey and Turkmenistan are growing rapidly. The goal is to increase the volume of trade, which exceeds $ 2 billion in 2021, to $ 5 billion in the short term and up to $ 10 billion in the long run.

Turkmenistan stands out as a second country where Turkish companies operate most after Russia.

In Turkmenistan, the first summit of the heads of the state of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan was held in Turkmenistan.

In 2022, the first summit of the heads of the state of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan was held in Turkmenistan, in the framework of which the development of cooperation in the field of energy and the special importance of the supply of natural gas was emphasized.

In this summit, Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey are working on the creation of a harmonious, universal system for sending energy resources to the world market. With his statements, Berdimuhamedov approved the sale of Turkmen natural gas to Europe through Turkey.
