Ukraine and Moldova introduce joint control of seven checkpoints on border

Moldova and Ukraine signed protocols on the organization of joint control at seven checkpoints on the state border, Moldipress reports on Friday

The Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Republic and his Ukrainian colleague Denis Shmygal took part in the ceremony of signing documents in the video conference mode.

Thus, Chisinau and Kyiv confirmed the mutual support of the integration agenda of both states in the European Union and the activation of trade, economic, social and political cooperation between the two states.

“This is a general victory, and our obligation is to move together along the path of integration into the EU. Today’s signing of protocols on the organization of general control points on the Moldo -Ukrainian border crossing is an important step towards joining the EU,” – The Republic said in an interview with a colleague.

Officials also agreed to further promote a bilateral dialogue and intensify cooperation in the field of regional security.

Denis Shmygal noted a beneficial effect on diversification of bilateral trade and further strengthening the “color of solidarity” in relation to the European Union.

For more than a year, about 1.6 million tons of Ukrainian agricultural products passed through Moldova over a year through Moldova.

The parties also affected joint infrastructure projects, including the start of construction work on the Kosautz-Yampol bridge, as well as an increase in the capacity of transportation and storage of natural gas in a neighboring country.

The documents are talking about the Brick-Rossoshan, Kryva-Mamalyga, Jurdjulest-Reni, Larga-Kelmen, Palac-Mayaki-Lawyer, Pervomaisk-Kucchurgans and Platnovo-New Goyany.

It is noted that the introduction of joint control provides for the minimization of formalities on the border, in particular, the simultaneous implementation of procedures by the Ukrainian and Moldavian side during one stop.

This will allow carriers to pass control faster at the checkpoints and, as a result, will lead to a decrease in queues on the border and transparency of control procedures.
