The Flagship of the Turkish Navy – TCG Anadolu landing ship sailed from the port of Alssanjak in Izmir to participate in planned exercises. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey in social networks.
“We express sincere respect and gratitude to the residents of Turkey, who was honoring a visit to the board of TCG Anadolu during the period of being in Istanbul and Izmir. The new landing ship is a visual indicator of the level that the Turkish defense industry reached,” the department said.
TCG Anadolu, created as part of the project of a multi -purpose landing ship, is able to transfer a unit in a battalion to a given sector. At the same time, the actions of the vessel do not require additional support from the main zones of basing.
The TCG Anadolu vessel has a length of 230 meters and a width of 32 meters. Maximum weight – 27,436 tons.
TCG Anadolu is designed to become an important factor in the power of the Turkish Navy, especially taking into account the deployment of shock unmanned and pilot aircraft on board.
The ship is designed to transport 94 units of equipment, including 13 tanks, 27 armored personnel carriers and 6 armored personnel carriers. On the deck 10 helicopters and 11 shock UAVs can be placed. The hangar is designed for 19 more helicopters and 30 drones. The ship can also accommodate four boats.
