G7 requires Russia to return to Ukraine Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant

The Foreign Minister of the G7 countries (included Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, USA, France, Japan) called on Russia to unmarkably transfer control of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant to Ukraine (captured by Russia in March this year).

“We turn to Russia with a call to immediately return the full control of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant its legal sovereign owner, Ukraine, and also returned control over all nuclear facilities within the limits of the boundaries of Ukraine recognized at the international level to ensure the safe operation of these facilities” , – says in the statement quoted by the Russian media.

The G7 Foreign Minister supported the actions of the IAEA to strengthen the safety of nuclear facilities, worried about the current situation and insist on sending experts to the region “to clarify issues and appropriate measures.” The ministers noted that it is necessary to fully respect the sovereignty of Ukraine over its territory and its infrastructure.
