Budapest is not going to impede the Euro -Atlantic ambitions of Ukraine, the Ambassador of Hungary to Kyiv Istvan Ideyarto said in an interview with the Ukrainian television channel.
According to him, the Hungarians are in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and their aspirations. “We have never blocked the desire of Ukraine to join NATO. We blocked two things – this is a language issue and issues of education. They were resolved at the political level at some NATO institutions. In particular, foreign ministers and defense ministers. It was a signal not very good signal. However, we had no other choice to tell Ukraine that NATO is not just a military organization. He noted that Budapest fully supports Ukraine and counts on the speedy settlement of the crisis in the territory of the state with the further revival of the Ukrainian people “with new energy and opportunities.”
