Parties to conflict in Sudan agreed on truce

The parties to the armed conflict in Sudan reached an agreement on the declaration of a ceasefire. This was announced by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

According to him, the ceasefire will enter into force at midnight Monday and last 72 hours.

The diplomat noted that the warring parties came to the agreement as a result of “intensive negotiations.”

“The United States calls for the Armed Forces of Sudan and the forces of quick response to strictly observe the ceasefire during this period,” Blinken said.

The Secretary of State added that Washington intends to coordinate efforts with regional and international partners, representatives of civilian institutions of Sudan and other interested parties.

Earlier, the United States closed its embassy in Hartum and evacuated the staff of the diplomatic mission of Sudan.

SBR earlier announced a humanitarian truce from the first days of the holiday in connection with the end of the Holy Muslims of the month of Ramazan.
