The transition to payment in national currencies between the CIS countries will help them strengthen cooperation. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at an informal summit of the leaders of the CIS countries.
“I am sure, to develop such positive trends (an increase in the turnover of the Russian Federation with the CIS countries) will allow a more energetic transition to national currencies in mutual settlements with the countries of the Commonwealth. Actually, we have been doing this for many years, and this is not tied to in any way any political conjuncture, ”said the Russian leader.
He added that this will contribute to the strengthening of the sovereignty of the CIS countries, the development of capital markets, and the deepening of economic integration.
After that, Vladimir Putin said that in the CIS space it is necessary to create conflict resolution measures.
“In our circle we will touch on security issues in the space of the Commonwealth. After all, in addition to Ukraine, where, indeed, tragic events take place, unfortunately, conflicts sometimes arise between other close states of the post -Soviet space. This certainly requires the development of measures to resolve them “,” the head of Russia explained his position. It is especially important to exchange opinions on cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism, crime, illegal drug trafficking and corruption.
