Turkey: mayor of most affected by earthquakes of city was detained

Turkish security forces detained the mayor of the city of Nurdag, the province of Gaziantep Okkesh Kavak as part of the investigation in the case of mass collapse of buildings as a result of earthquakes on February 6. This was reported by the newspaper Türkiye.

According to the publication, Kavak is taking place in the case of involvement in violation of the rules for the construction of houses in the city, which led to the death of many local residents. Together with Kavak, Yunus Kai, the owner of the CCK Construction company, is held in this case, which was involved in the construction of collapsed houses.

Nurdagi is considered the most affected city in Turkey as a result of earthquakes. Most houses are either destroyed or in emergency condition. Earlier, the Turkish authorities announced his intentions to completely demolish him and rebuild him.
