The UN Security Council held a special meeting dedicated to the discussion of the Operation Dawn of the Israeli Defense Army (IDF) in the Gaza Strip, Israeli Ynet.
A regular representative of the United States at the UN Linda Thomas-Grinfield called for an investigation into Israel’s statements. “The murders of civilians should be investigated, hasty conclusions should also be avoided,” the diplomat said.
As the publication notes, the Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya condemned the actions of the IDF. “The rapid degradation of the situation in the conflict zone, which poured into armed confrontation and numerous human sacrifices, causes us deep concern. The escalation provoked the attacks of the Israeli Air Force in response to which the Palestinian groups began massaged shelling of the Israeli territory,” said Neboenzya. He urged all the parties involved in showing maximum restraint, observing the norms of international humanitarian law and prevent a new escalation of armed actions.
