Yerevan did not notify CSTO about abolition of exercises

The Secretariat of the Organization of the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO) did not receive from Yerevan an official notification of the abolition of the exercises “Ireless Brotherhood-2023”.

This is stated in the message of the press service of the CSTO.

“The need to conduct exercises was previously confirmed in Yerevan,” the message says.

At the same time, the organization “with understanding relate to the current situation in Armenia”, “which may not allow this event in 2023.”

In the OBKB, they expressed hope that “in connection with the abolition of the exercises, coalition safety will not suffer.”

On the eve of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated that in Yerevan they consider it inappropriate to conduct CSTO exercises in Armenia this year.

“The Minister of Defense of Armenia (Suren Papikyan) has already informed the United Staff of the CSTO that in this situation we consider it inappropriate to conduct the exercises of the CSTO (in Armenia), and they will not take place this year,” Pashinyan said.
