Young talent Aydin Sulemanly won tournament in Montenegro

Young Azerbaijan Chess player Aydin Sulemanly became the winner of the International Tournament in the Montenegrin city of Niksich, dedicated to the memory of Vladimir Bato Contic.

Competition with the participation of 22 chess players from ten countries consisted of 9 rounds. Aydin scored 6.5 points and solely took the 1st place. In his assets, four victories and five draws.

It is worth noting that by rating the 16-year-old Suleymanly (2520) was the fourth among the participants of the tournament, but nevertheless was able to get over more experienced rivals.

Earlier, Aydin became European champion in age categories up to 8 and 12 years old, and in 2019 won the world championship among 14-year-olds, having won congratulations from the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the first vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva.

Then, as part of the Azerbaijani national team, was a victory on the youth chess Olympiad. Well, the real furyor, young talent, made in February last year at the traditional Moscow tournament “Aeroflot Open”, becoming, first of the first, the first Azerbaijanis who won this competition, and secondly, the most young winner for the 18-year history of the tournament.

Having then rating 2474, our chess player ranked only the 71st place on the list of participants. In Moscow, he invariably played with rivals with a rating above 2600 and, nevertheless, by typing 6.5 points was able to take the 1st place.
