Anar Kerimov spoke at 109th ILO session

In the framework of the 109th session of the International Labor Conference (Baku), the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Azerbaijan Anar Kerimov.

As reported by Haqqin.az in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, A.Kerimov stressed the important role of the non-aligned movement in mobilization and strengthening global efforts to overcome the effects of a pandemic. He noted that Azerbaijan as a chairman of the movement successfully conducted a summit of the contact group of non-aligned in May 2020. He noted that at the initiative of our country at the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council, resolution was adopted “Providing equal, reasonable, timely and universal access to vaccines against COVID-19, a special session of the UN General Assembly to combat Pandemic COVID was held -19.

Deputy Minister noted the negative impact of COVID-19 on the economy, as well as the labor market and employment.

Studying that inequality in the distribution of vaccines against COVID-19 between developing and developed countries is a serious concern of non-aligned member states, A.Kerimov emphasized the special importance of resolution “Providing equal, reasonable price, timely and universal accessibility to Vaccines against COVID -nineteen”. Deputy minister noted the importance of global joint efforts to fight pandemic, multilateral cooperation, solidarity and respect for human rights. He also noted a special importance of social dialogue to eliminate the negative impact of a pandemic to the labor market, creating decent jobs for workers, activities that will achieve goals in this area.

Note that in the 109th session of the ILO, which for the first time in its history takes place in virtual format, the representatives of the governments of more than 4,000 Member States of the International Labor Organization and Social Partners take part.
