In the Baku Court of Crime, the trial of the 33-year-old resident of the Saborybad district Elchin Askurov, accused of illegal trafficking of narcotic substances on a large scale, ended.

According to Haqqin.az, Elchin Askurov brought to his rented apartment in the capital of more than one and a half kilograms of marijuana, which he received for sale from an unknown person. He hid part of the “goods” in the closet, and kept the rest in his car. On May 10 of this year, Askurov was detained by police officers in the village of Pirshagi and taken to the police department of the Sabunchinsky district. When examining his car, the police found and seized more than 1 kilogram of marijuana. Also in a rented apartment in the Narimanovsky district, 500 grams of marijuana and electronic scales were discovered.

Elchin Askurov pleaded guilty for the charges against him. In his statement, he said that, being near the water channel in a place known as Padarchel, he discovered a bush of wild marijuana, who dug up and took him to his house in his native Saborybad district. The man said that he was not a drug addict, although from time to time he allowed himself to “indulge” marijuana. According to the defendant, he later brought drugs to the apartment, which he rented in Baku. The effect of the drug found did not like Askurov to his liking, and he decided to sell the “product”.

Askurov was detained at the moment when he talked with a certain girl, whom he met in social networks near the seashore in the Baku village of Parshagi. The police and the man came up to the couple, seeing the law enforcement officers and knowing that drugs were in his car, began to behave suspiciously. Askerov tried to hide from the police in his car, but was detained.

“My friend did not know that there were drugs in the car. I did not sell drugs to anyone,” the accused said in his testimony.

by a decision of the court, Elchin Askurov, was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in prison.
