Estonian Ministry of Defense: delays in Kyiv’s help are becoming more dangerous

Ukraine urgently needs a military help, since political will alone will not help her.

This is the Minister of Defense of Estonia Hanno Pevurku stated at the 60th Munich Security Conference.

“delays in help are becoming more dangerous, because after the fall of Avdeevka, the war approached NATO for tens of kilometers, so that any delay means additional losses of human lives on the battlefield,” the Estonian National Broadcasting Company Err.

Pevour also noted the need to strengthen defense readiness in Europe.

The minister identified the most critical problems: lack of air defense, long -range firepower and lack of ammunition. Pevour emphasized that an increase in defense expenses for Europe is an opportunity, not an extra burden, since a strong defense industry contributes to economic growth and the creation of jobs.

The call to allocate military assistance to Ukraine in Munich was also addressed by Estonian Prime Minister Kai Callas.

If last year at the Munich mood conference were optimistic regarding the continuing war in Ukraine, then this year they were opposite, the politician said.

Callas noted that last year the Western countries had high hopes for the counterattack of Ukraine, and now opposite moods reign. At the same time, according to the head of government, you should not go into pessimism, but focus on what can be done for Ukraine.

“If you look positively, then for many countries it still came out that it is necessary to do even more. But there are not understanding this country, although they probably still have things in warehouses that they could convey to Ukraine,” said Kallas.

According to her, Estonia has ideas on how to combine advanced technologies with the classical defense industry in order to be ready to help Ukraine, as well as strengthen their own defense.

Callas explained that the assistance of Ukraine has stalled, because for many years Europe has little invested in defense and therefore did not have orders.

“Ukraine is fighting alone and the only thing the Ukrainians ask us about, this is military assistance so that they can continue their struggle. And not so much they ask. We must concentrate our efforts,” the politician added.
