France will put air defense system in Armenia

France has reached an agreement with the Armenia on the sale of air defense systems, including 3 radars of the GM200 type.

The Minister of Defense of France Sebastian Locorn held a joint press conference in Paris with his Armenian colleague Suren Papikyan.

noting that he accepts Papikyan in Paris for the third time, Lekorny said that relations between France and Armenia have a long history.

Having announced the expansion of cooperation with Armenia in the field of defense, the French minister said that his country would open an office of a military attache under the embassy in Yerevan.

Lekornny said that in the period 2023-2024. France will provide Armenia support in the field of military training.

noting that the French military will conduct the training of the Armenian military, Lekornya also said that France reached an agreement with the Armenia on the sale of 3 radars of the GM200.

Having reported that today an agreement was also signed on the Mistral anti-aircraft missile system, the French minister emphasized that the weapons sold not for offensive purposes, but for defense and protecting the civilian population.

Lekornya also confirmed that the French defense company Dassault Aviation and Saudi Arabia are negotiating 54 Rafale fighters.

Minister Papikyan, in turn, said that France and the French people supported Armenia in difficult times.

Papikyan added that the problems of the South Caucasus and Armenia have not yet been resolved and his country is striving only for the solid world in the region.
