Germany will not join an agreement on prohibition of nuclear weapons

The German government excludes the connection to the agreement on the prohibition of nuclear weapons, according to the Cabinet of the Federal Republic of Germany to the request of the deputy of the Left Party in the Bundestag Sevim Dagelin, reports DPA.

Berlin believes that until the “there is a threat of a nuclear attack” for Germany and NATO, “the rejection of nuclear deterrence will be a mistake.” Joining an agreement on the prohibition of nuclear weapons “is incompatible with the obligations of Germany arising from its membership in NATO,” the government said. Disarmation should be carried out taking into account the situation in the field of security policy, the document says.

It is also reported that the “attack” of Russia on Ukraine shows “threats emanating from Moscow.” At the same time, the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany declares the idea of a nuclear world.
