Opposition in Armenia encouraged to cancel election due to situation in Zangezure

The leader of the opposition party “Enlightened Armenia” Edmond Maugian, stated that early elections to the Armenian parliament planned on June 20 can be canceled. This politician stated at the congress of his party, write Armenian media.

According to Maugiana, he does not exclude that if tensions in the Azerbaijani-Armenian border in Zangezure (Syunik) will deepen on the border, then early elections to the National Assembly of Armenia will be canceled.

“Know that the situation in this regard (on the border – ed.) is very complicated, and if the situation is aggravated, I do not exclude that the elections will not take place,” said Mauggy.

Also, Maugian stated that hatred in Armenian society reigns.

“The country is divided, our society is full of hate to each other. This hatred is promoted for a long time, we talked about it. Unfortunately, the current electoral process again comes on the way of propaganda of hatred, dividing lines and confrontations,” he said.
