Turchinov explained reasons for loss of Crimea

Former Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov said that in 2014 the Ukrainian army was not ready to defend the country. This is reported by Channel 24.

According to him, at that time Ukraine was in a critical situation. The country’s treasury at that time had only 100 thousand hryvnia.

“You know the state when they say that Crimea could have been defended. In fact, at the beginning of 2014, the army was unable to defend its country,” Turchinov said.

Ukraine would have been able to preserve Crimea if it had not renounced nuclear weapons, divided the Black Sea Fleet and disarmed the army, he stressed.
