Chavushoglu: Türkiye has turned into key country for peace in region

Türkiye has established itself as a key country to ensure peace in the region. I am sure that Ankara should use the capabilities of this situation as fully as possible. This was said by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Chavushoglu on Monday in Antalya.

The head of diplomacy attracted attention to the challenges of modernity, recalling that the idea of creating, such platforms as: the Council of Europe, the EU and the UN, was the desire to prevent conflicts, including in Europe.

today, we see how the foundations of the world order themselves are blown up; the system formed between the Second World War is destroyed; contradictions and conflicts are deepened, about 60 percent of which are located in the region, where Turkey is located. Despite the negative challenges, Turkey, Turkey It remains the “island of stability”, – stated the head of the Foreign Ministry.

According to him, in this situation, Ankara is making active intermediary efforts, which also made it possible to achieve a “grain transaction”, and thereby stabilize the situation in the global food market.

Chavushoglu noted that against the backdrop of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the so-called “median corridor”-an important trade and transport artery between the West and the East, increased. “The middle corridor is vital for trading between Asia and Europe. You can add the North -South Transport corridor,” said the Turkish minister.

He noted that Turkey has also become a more active player in the energy market. “We began gas supply to Europe, in particular, to the countries of Eastern and Southeast Europe and the Balkans. We doubled the volume of gas supply through the Transanatoly gas pipeline (Tanap), which originates in Azerbaijan,” the minister said.

Chavushoglu attracted attention to the fact that in Turkey there are five terminals for processing liquefied natural gas (LNG). “We have agreements with the United States, Oman. Of the 15 countries, including Algeria and Nigeria, LNG tankers arrive in Turkey. This gas is processed on the terminals and is being delivered to other countries,” the minister said.
