Cleanest cities of Europe

From hundreds of cities studied by the European Environment Agency, only three distinguished themselves with air quality, almost every second – did not become cleaner, even taking into account restrictions in coronavirus locked, writes The Guardian.

According to the report of the ecologists, over the past two years, only 127 of 323 cities of Europe recorded an acceptable level of finely dispersed solid air pollutants PM 2.5. The rest was observed exceeding the parameter even at the moments of serious prohibitions for the work of enterprises in a pandemic. Three the most pure cities are called Umea in Sweden, Tampere in Finland and Funchal in Portugal.

The rest of Eastern Europe were stronger from dirty air, where coal is still the main source of energy. For the period from 2019 to 2021, representatives of the European Environment Agency recorded the most unfavorable to the health of the city of Polish Novy-Sonz, Cremona in Italy and Croatian Slavonic Brod.

The positive effect of self-insulation was still added analytics. The level of nitrogen dioxide in air during quarantine in some territories fell by about 60 percent. At the same time, only those cities of Europe, whose reporting on the state of ecology during the specified period was available.
