Microsoft: Iranian hackers aimed at Israeli defense companies

“Iranian hackers tried to hack 250 accounts belonging to Israeli and American defense companies,” Microsoft said on Monday at its Microsoft Office 365 service.

The company’s press release says that hackers managed to successfully “hit” 20 targets, while improving the technique of attacks each time.

Microsoft did not name the names of companies, however, they noted that hackers were interested in American and Israeli defense companies, as well as international maritime transport companies operating in the countries of the Middle East and in the Persian Gulf.

“based on the analysis of the character of attacks, geographic location and other data, we believe that the activities of hackers coincides with the national interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the statement says.

Note that the application was made against the background of the mutual accusations of Iran and Israel in the attacks on ships in the Middle East, as well as reports of the growing efforts of Tehran to take revenge on the death of their leading nuclear scientist Mochsena Fahrizade killed in 2020.
