Putin called for accelerating introduction of documents signed by leaders of “Caspian Five”

“We are advocating to accelerate the introduction of already signed documents in such the most important areas as the prevention of marine incidents, the fight against terrorism and organized crime. It would be very useful to accelerate the work on the approval of the projects of new five -sided agreements”, – said Putin, speaking at the sixth Caspian summit on Wednesday, Interfax reports.

We are talking about documents on cooperation in the field of safety and navigation, search and salvation at sea, scientific research, the fight against poaching and drug trafficking.

“Of course, the most close attention is required to strengthen cultural, educational, sports, tourist and youth exchanges between the states of the Five, – said the head of the Russian state.

He noted that Russia will have to make additional efforts to create a large international logistics node on the basis of the Unified Caspian Sea.

“Much has to be done to improve the transport and logistics architecture of the region. First of all, we are talking about building the North-Yug international transport corridor, here colleagues have already said, I completely share their approaches, this is a truly large-scale project of the transport artery with a length of 7200 km – from St. Petersburg to the ports of Iran and India, ”Putin said in his speech.

The President of Russia noted that the early launch of this corridor will contribute to the agreement between the Caspian states on cooperation in the field of transport that has entered into force last year, which is aimed at turning the Caspian Sea into a large international logistics node.

“I see how this direction is actively developing in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, here we also need to make efforts in this direction from the Russian side,” Putin said, noting that the development strategy of national seaports in the Caspian basin is being implemented in Russia, in Russia. as well as railway and automobile approaches until 2030.

Putin also announced the great possibilities of the Caspian states to increase cooperation in the field of energy. He noted that “agreements are already being implemented on the joint operation of the oil and gas fields located in the water area.”

“This allows you to reasonably and effectively observe the interests of the parties, to use the natural wealth of the Caspian Sea in both traditional and innovative alternative energy sectors,” said Putin.

According to him, Russia among key tasks considers the buildup of regional trade and investment ties, deepening mutually beneficial industrial and high-tech cooperation.

“The volume of Russian trade with the Caspian countries is constantly growing. So, in 2021, the turnover increased by more than a third – 35%,” the President of Russia said.
