Russia banned gas transit through Poland

Russian sanctions imposed on the company Europol GAZ, which owns part of the Yamal -Europe gas pipeline, means the ban for Gazprom to use the capacities of this highway. This was announced by the official representative of the company Sergey Kupriyanov, his comment was published in Telegram Gazprom.

“The ban on transactions and payments in favor of persons under sanctions, in particular for Gazprom, has a ban on the use of the belonging company of the Europol GAZ gas pipeline to transport Russian gas through Poland,” Kupriyanov said.

Europol GAZ – a joint venture “Gazprom” and the Polish company PGNIG, the owner of the Polish section of the Yamal -Europe pipeline. The Polish company owns 51.18% of the joint venture, Russian – 48.82%. According to the Pipeline of Yamal – Europe, Russian gas enters Belarus to the EU, specifically to Germany.

The representative of the Germany gas regulator said that the suspension of gas transit through the Yamal -Yamal -Europe will not affect the country’s energy security. “For several weeks, there was almost no gas to Germany for this pipeline,” RBC quotes the representative of the regulatory authority.
