Ukrainian soldier about Soledar: so many dead that no one counts them

In the area of the city of Soledar Donetsk region, Ukrainian defenders continue heavy battles with Russian occupation forces for control over the village.

Ukrainian soldier from the 46th airmobile brigade fighting in Soledar, told CNN that the situation is “critical”, and the number of dead is so great that “no one considers the dead.”

CNN does not name his name for security reasons.

“The situation is critical. Complex. We hold on to the last,” said the soldier.

He described the dynamic battlefield, where buildings are crossing from hand to hand daily, and units cannot keep track of the growing number of the dead:

“No one will tell you how many killed and wounded there. Because no one knows for sure. Not a single person. Not at the headquarters. Nowhere. The positions are constantly capturing and intercepting. What was our home today, the next day it becomes Wagner’s house.

The soldier said that as of Tuesday evening, it was not clear what part of the city the Russians hold: “No one can say exactly who has moved where and who holds what, because no one knows for sure. There is a huge gray zone in the city, in the city. which everyone claims that they control, [but] this is just an empty chatter. “

According to him, the Ukrainians lost many troops in Soledar, but their ranks are replenished as the battles continued for the mining city: “The personnel of our units were updated almost half, more or less. We do not even have time to memorize each other.”
