Undp: 1.1 billion

The UN Development Program announced that 1.1 billion out of 6.1 billion people living in 110 countries are fighting poverty.

According to the global index of multidimensional UNDP poverty for 2023, 1.1 billion out of 6.1 billion people living in 110 countries of the world are fighting poverty.

The data given in the report of the UNDP “Human Price of Inaction” for 2020-2023 indicate that in the period from 2020 to 2023, the poverty level in countries with low income-income increased. This means that another 165 million people will live less than $ 3.65 per day.

20 percent of 165 million people living in low-income countries, in 2023 will still live below the level of income that existed to Covid-19.

undp emphasizes that in order to develop the necessary policy, it is important to know the regions where people fighting poverty live.

Five of every six poor people in the world live in the countries of Africa south of Sakhara or South Asia. If we talk about the regional distribution, then in Africa south of sugar with poverty, 47.8% of the population fight, and in South Asia this figure is 34.9%.

Among the steps taken by the World Bank to combat poverty in South Asia, the allocation of assistance in 2023 in 20.1 billion dollars. This assistance provides for the provision of technical advice on issues such as debt management, social Protection, air pollution and climate change.

On the other hand, 17 sustainable development goals established by the UN to protect the world and ensure its prosperity include eradication of poverty by 2030.

The program is aimed at ensuring the economic development of countries with low income to prevent poverty, while emphasizing the importance of that this happens without damage to the environment.

According to UNDP, reduce the growth of poverty in the world and remove millions of people living by less than $ 3.65 per day from poverty. This requires a little more than $ 14 billion and take steps aimed at paying debts to finance social expenses.
