Senators approved in full the allocated by the US administration for the so -called European and Pacific restraint initiatives ($ 3.6 billion and $ 9.1 billion, respectively), directed against Russia and China.
In addition, the bill without reductions (in the amount of $ 300 million) approves the expenses of military assistance to Ukraine proposed by the executive branch. Moreover, the program in which such appropriations are carried out (UKRaine Security Assistance Initiative, USAI) was extended until the end of the 2027 financial year.
The document included 286 amendments. Now the bill is sent to the Senate of the full composition.
After both the Senate and the House of Representatives approve their versions of the project, he will be finalized by the conciliation commission.
Chambers will again have to vote for a single version of the document, after which he will go to the signature to President Biden.
