Altun: Support for Islamophobia and Xenophobia contradicts principles of democracy

The Head of the Directorate of the Administration of the President of Turkey, Fakhretin Altun, condemned the manifestations of Islamophobia in Western countries, emphasizing that the support of Islamophobia and Xenophobia contradicts the principles of democracy and human freedom.

“Sweden should take a clear position in the fight against terrorism. This is the only way to approve Turkey’s approval of Stockholm membership in NATO,” he said in a video message to the participants of the discussions on “the contribution of Turkey to transatlantic security and the transformation of NATO” organized in The framework of the Summit of NATO leaders in Vilnius.

Altun recalled that Turkey, Finland and Sweden signed on the fields of last year’s NATO summit in Madrid a tripartite memorandum.

“Finland previously took sincere steps to fulfill obligations for a tripartite memorandum and paved the way for membership in NATO. Sweden, apparently, is not yet enough to fulfill the conditions of the memorandum and cannot put a clear section between democracy and terrorism. Support for Islamophobia and xenophobia Under the guise of freedom of speech, it cannot be ignored by Turkey, ”said Altun.

According to him, anti -Islamic provocations seriously undermined the faith of Ankara in fulfilling obligations from Sweden.
