Kiev court sent Medvedchuk under house arrest

Ukrainian deputy and businessman, the leader of the Political Council of the Ukrainian Party “Opposition Platform – for Life” Viktor Medvedchuk sent for home arrest until July 9 in the case of state treason. The corresponding decision was made on Thursday Pechersk District Court of Kiev, RBC reports with reference to the decorated media.

Medvedchuk around the clock is forbidden to leave the place of residence until July 9 inclusive. He must be on call to law enforcement agencies, wearing an electronic bracelet and pass your passport.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine insisted on the election of the preventive measure in the form of an arrest. The prosecutor asked the court to arrest Medvedchuk until July 10, or to determine a deposit of 300 million UAH (about € 10 million).

Medvedchuk himself said that he could not make such a deposit: he recalled that, by decision of the Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine, his accounts were blocked. Also because of superimposed sanctions, it cannot pay security deposit.

Medvedchuk suspected not only under Art. 111 (Government), but also under Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the customs of the war), said his lawyer Bogdan Koval.
