Ankara will continue supporting Turks-kiprotes

Ankara will continue to support the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRSK) in all areas, including in the matter of its recognition of the whole world.

This was stated by the Foreign Ministry of Turkey Hakan Fidan, commenting on the incident with the intervention of the UN peacekeeping forces in Cyprus (Navy) in the construction of the Pile Yigitler road in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

“The UN has violated its neutrality in this incident. Turkey completely supports the fair position of TRK,” said the diplomat at a joint press conference with Bulgarian colleague Maria Gabriel

According to him, the actions of the UN peacekeeping forces are incompatible with the fundamental spirit of the World Organization.

Earlier, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said that the construction of the Pile -Yigitler road is a humanitarian project, the purpose of which is to relieve direct access of the TRK citizens living in the village of Pile to their homeland.

The head of Turkish diplomacy also affected the prospects for Turkey joining the European Union.

Fidan noted that Turkish membership in the community will open new opportunities for both the EU and the region.

“I recommend to European leaders to use a new window of opportunities before it closes,” said the Turkish minister.
